The last 6 digits of your VIN # are stamped on the block. It is stamped on a pad located just to the rear of the right (passenger side) engine mount just above the oil pan. If they match its the original engine. If they dont then on the drivers side there should be a casting number on the side of the block by the freeze plugs that will tell you what block it is.
This number may be hard to spot if the engine is in the truck. Years of greasy crap could cover this number up. If my brain is correct these numbers arent but 1/8th inch high by about 1 inch long. Real easy to over look if its dirty and in the vehicle! Good luck!
