Half ton transfer case part number stamping ?

Can somebody please tell me where the part number is stamped on an early half ton transfer case ?

I've got two early NP cases, one that came on a first series VC 1 Command which has case casting numbers C37211 and C37212, and one on the VC 3 Hard Cab pickup which as case casting numbers C37831 and C37832.

I've looked quite thoroughly at the loose case but can't find where the part number is stamped, and I'd like to find it on both cases to see if either / both are the correct number for a VC transfer case (598811)
