My 1967 MOTOR'S says you valve lash on that engine (if it is a 59 w/mech lifters) should be .10 on the intake and .18 on the exhaust valve, with the engine hot. If it is the later "A" engine (61-67) they go to .12 and .22. If it has hydraulics they are at (zero). hope that helps.
In my opinion, multi-viscosity sucks out loud unless you're running one of those no-load japanese sewing machines for transportation. It is 15W when you need the heavy stuff like HOT and heavy loads, and 40 when you need the light stuff, when cold. i'd run straight 40w for the summer if you actually work your truck.
