I used a 3/8 wide steel strap shaped on a table sander to mimmic the original oval shape. Then welded some 10-32 studs on the backside about every 8" that stick thru with a nut to fasten inside the wiper valence. Also, seal it into the groove with 3-m seam sealer. Works nice and looks stock, no cracks so far 4 years later.
