Very true, Clint, all that you said. And others have suggested going at it one step at a time, rather than doing a bunch of things, then never knowing which one worked.
And brand new parts can fail. In fact, new ones are probably more likely to fail than old ones, simply because of the "don't make 'em like they used to" reality. I had two brand new coils fail on my WDX in the last 2 years. I've NEVER had a coil fail until now.
