The books are labeled "S" series for several years in a row. Yet the internal lettering system (which got used on the engine stamps) was:

1961 R
1962 S
1963 T
1964 V
1965 A
1966 B
1967 C
1968 D

The service manuals are labeled S from 1962 until 1964. The Canadian trucks are considered S series from 1962 until 1966 or so.

Dodge was just weird about the lettering. There is lots of weirdness like that. But the 1965 book I linked to was printed in January of 1965. Where do you see S series on that book? As far as I can tell the 1964 book (which looks a lot like this book) is the last one to say S series on the cover.
