Beats me. My book shows they are all different size bore and stroke.
1963 427 -- 4.23 x 3.78
1966 428 -- 4.13 x 3.98
1969 429 -- 4.36 x 3.59
A friend of mine had a 1969 Mercury Marauder with the 429 4 barrel. We took it on a good long tour in 1970. As I remember, it got great gas mileage for a big motor.
