Almost none in length, a bit radially (to the rings) and a LOT circumferentially.

So, the best way to saw for stability would be to "quarter saw" instead of "flat saw". You want the 'ring' lines vertical, like 1" long in a board that is 1x6. 20% of 1" is lots less than 20% of 6". And 1st series and early 2nd series needs two boards each that dry to 11 3/4". But quartersawing wastes about 20% of the wood before it even gets to 'lumber'.

And coincidentally, "quartersawn oak" has a unique figure, called "Tiger Stripe". Not to be confused with Fiddle Back Maple, which is a different stripe.
