i am going to buy a wc 3/4 front frame clip. i am going to build up a small block or poly v8 and fit it in the clip. i will make it a 100% drop in for my command car as i am starting to be convinced that the way i want to use the truck requires more engine. I would really like to keep the flat head, but it would require expensive hopping up to be of benefit. i had a 360 little red express engine in my m37. it was great. since i have no winch, im thinking an overdrive trans and going to the 10.50 chevrons i cant run now. a perfect drop in would be a dodge truck magnum setup with serpentine belts. v8 or even v6 would provide the grunt i require. a red ram hemi like the guy in hawaii and marty did would be a good fit too. no diesel though. too noisy and not needed for crusing around.
