I would think it may be easier to have new springs designed/built for the ride style you want. As an example, my Carryall had springs way to stiff in the rear. It rode on bad roads like the axle was welded to the frame, no suspension action.

I searched for a spring company that would/could actually design new springs and build them. The only one I could find was Betts Spring in San Leandro, Ca. They started business back in the late 1800's.

Betts wanted lots of measurements from mt Carryall as she sat. I told them I wanted the ride of a vehicle like a 1/2 ton pickup and a load capacity of 750 pounds. They designed/built my new rear springs and shipped them by UPS, in a turnaround of 2 weeks.

The ride is just what I wanted, I am very happy, my wallet was lighter by just a tad less than $1000. To me , it was worth it.
