Different shape and everything. There would be no reason to use 1938 doors and then build the rest of the body to match them so I have to assume the complete bodies were laying around either at Dodge or a local body company.
If it was a factory 1940 panel stretch job I'd expect to see the square corner panel/carryall door used.
I'd look around for images of special bodied 1937-38 panels and see if you can find something like it.
