After running some numbers in a gear ratio calculator assuming a common tire size of 37" which I believe is what most of us are running. Two ratios seem to stick out as far as reasonable highway road speed and RPM's. 4.88 seems to work very well for the stock engine guys. With a 4 speed and a v8, or a diesel engine swap with an OD trans a 4.30 gear will keep the RPM's in the "sweet spot" of 1800-1900rpm and have a reasonable highway speed of 55-60mph.
