Really the 5.86 and the stock six is about as good as it gets in my opinion and with bigger tires the six will likely struggle even with 5.86.
With a repower and if you don't go off road too much the 4.88 might be nice. With a diesel engine and disk brakes maybe the 4:30 would be okay. Based on my truck I am not sure I would really want to go much faster that 55-60 and if you are repowering anyway why not change to an overdrive transmission?
So I would say if you are looking to have gears made 5.86 gears are plenty available used so 4.88 would be the way to go. If you are working on 9-5/8" axle upgrades a more readily available option for disk brakes and a heavy duty axle shaft option would top my list.
