Proper powder coating is infinitely better for something like a windshield frame than paint. There is no way to paint a windshield frame properly unless you were going to zinc plate it before coating to get protection into all the nooks & crannies. The reason window frames are always rusty is because they were painted from the factory & there's no way to get paint inside the groove for the for the rubber strip.
I'm starting to think that with the misinformation that's being spread on this site regarding coatings that the only explanation is there are no good powder coating shops in the US.
If you need help having it properly coated & have a way to send it to Canada...we have the technology up here to get it powder coated for you properly with the correct powder. Do not compare the powder coat done on lawn chairs, job boxes & aftermarket bumpers with quality automotive powder coating...there's no comparison.
This site is a wealth of information for those looking to repair a Dodge & mechanical repairs in general, you'll find lots of great advice here in that regard. We have some very talented mechanics however we're lacking in knowledge when it comes to coatings.
Epoxy is great stuff when applied properly but it doesn't compare with properly applied powder coating on chassis & parts like this.
Marine epoxies probably hold up close to powder coat on things like chassis but comparatively they look like crap.
