I don't think there is any hurry. It will be many years before any change here.

I stocked up on R-12 when it was a dollar a can. After the ban, it went up to about $40 a can. But the transition to R134 was so successful, the price of R-12, even though it was no longer available, just kept dropping.

On the other hand, if the transition to a new refrigerant doesn't go as well, cans of R-134 may become very valuable.

By the way, cans of R134 are approaching $20.00 a can here. And, now in California, there is a refundable $10.00 a can deposit on R134.

If do your own A.C. work, it might not be a bad idea to put away a few cans. Watch out for the "leakers" though.
