With the water distribution tube out, remove every water jacket freeze plug and pipe plug, including the one on top of the head. Flush every opening with a garden hose at full blast until the water runs clear. I used a pressure washer too.

Water in the intake or exhaust could be harmful. I'd run stucco tape, or something waterproof, across the openings and then blow them out as soon a possible.

The buildup behind the lower freeze plugs will be nasty. It might help to use a bent wire and screw driver to loosen some of the hardened stuff.

There's one plug that seals an oil passage, don't pump water in there by mistake.

An optional step is to clean the block with a muriatic acid/water mix using the same procedures as used for a radiator.
