I was inside and heard a crack, looked out the window and saw half of this giant Poplar tree splitting down the middle and heading for both trucks. Made a pretty big noise. Expletives were muttered as I ran out. The Horror! The one photo shows the limb that came within about a foot of the roof and hood. A few smaller limbs hit the hood, but just broke and did no damage, (Power Wagon). We had already cleared another large limb further away. Missed the W300 Crew Cab by about a foot also. The whole thing was resting on two small dead limbs and so was dangerous clearing them out. Last year the same tree had another large limb fall the other way. Don't know how we are going to cut that humungous main trunk. I was kind of waiting for something like this and hoping it would not happen, but I lucked out. Probably post some more pics from Slappy's camera later.
