they go up and down but some eras of vintage vehicles never really recover from a decline because they simply become TOO old to have anyone interested with enough nostalgic emotion to be willing to pay the high dollars. the late 80s was the all time peak in muscle and other classic car prices. I worked on quite few rare ones like hemi chargers and LS6 chevelles 55-7 chevs etc. the LS6 convertible chevelle I built an exhaust system for in 89 sold for 120K. by early 90s that car was worth maybe 40 K and today maybe 50K plus. cool rare car but 120K for an automatic? dented up hemi cars then were selling for 90K.
