The best way is to remove the bed from the truck. Take pictures of the underside to keep things straight. Remove the old floor and clean up the sheet metal as needed. Be sure the bed is square by measuring across corners or you'll have trouble later. Place your outer boards first under the bed angles but don't drill holes until every board and strip is in place. Move onto the next boards placing strips and bolts. DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY BOLTS YET. Continue until all boards and strips are in place. Check you gaps at each end of the bed and adjust as needed with a small pry bar. If everything fits you can now tighten the bolts. I've done several of these including the one I did today. Hope your finish holds up I've not had good luck with marine varnish in the past.
