Several companies make a device that looks like a socket that has a reverse wound spiral inside it. They work pretty good in getting off buggered up nuts. Try that before you start cutting on the nuts.
The kits are around $30 and worth having on hand.
Heating the nuts first with an acetylene torch usually helps.
