Jumping the regular way is very time consuming and tiring.

When they try to set a record for number of jumps, they do it with a helicopter which only lifts off high enough (about a 1,000 feet) to safely deploy the parachute. Then, they have a team on the ground that gets the jumper out of the deployed chute and into a new one. The helicopter then picks the guy up for the next jump. No hustling your own chute off the drop zone.

I'm sure the record setting guy hurt for days.
