When I was in the service, I worked at an Army jump school (yeah, I know, I got stories too). Someone, maybe at FT Benning, set out to set a one-day jump record. I don't remember how many, but he jumped hundreds of times in one day. Good use of taxpayers money.

My neighbor sounds like your co-worker. He's got a bunch of stories including one that he was a Catholic priest. He also told me he was in the Special Forces and a member of a team that did a famous covert operation in Cambodia to rescue POW's. I never questioned him, but he said an Army oolonel did. The colonel heard his story and was skeptical. The colonel pulled a book from a shelf and said, "If you were a member of that team, your name will be in this book about the operation".

The colonel opened the book to the index and low and behold, there was my neighbors name. The colonel said, "We'll I'll be", and gave my neighbor the book. My neighbor showed me the book with his name in it.

So, you never know. But, 1600 jumps is a lot of jumps unless he was career military assigned to special unit. Paratrooper only needed to jump once every three months to keep their jump pay.
