I had a ford 8N tractor that did that intermittently and after changing all the ignition parts it still did it. Turned out to be the keyed ignition switch, I discovered that with a test light when the ignition was on the current didn't travel through the ignition switch. Hot wire goes to a terminal on one side of the ignition switch, it travels through the switch to the other terminal when you turn the key to the on position. It seemed to do it when it was running for awhile (warm). The electrical components inside the ignition switch would heat up and loose contact. Temporally solved by jumping a wire across the two terminals bypassing the keyed switch.
