Sounds about right for a decent paint job. I painted my carryall in 1999 and had over 2 grand in just paint, primer and etc. No clear coat. To get a good paint job it takes lots of hours of body prep and sanding. The final color is the easy part. What makes a paint job great is all the body work and primer and wet sanding under the final color. I had well over 100 hours of sanding primer after all the body work was done. People love the paint job on my carryall. I have had high end body shops comment that it is a great job. It would have cost over 25K back in 1999 to have a shop do the final body work and paint. I have over 500 hours of body work and paint in that carryall. I bet Paul in NY has more hours in his. He replaced major portions of his carryall's body.
