Hate to be a downer on a fun day like today

Im on duty, again, for 6 days straight. Today is day three.

At 7 this morning my wife called and told me shes bringing my dalmatian Ace to the vet. He had a spot of like road rash on his butt, and when she woke up it had tripled in size. Have no idea whats causing it.

At 730 she called balling and hysterical. He couldnt walk to the car, couldnt walk into the vet office. The vet evaluated him and decided its time. At 740 he was put down. The spinal degradation he was experiencing had gotten bad enough that his hind legs muscles were non existent.

My buddy Ace is now with my other buddy Tiller, romping and running free of pain. Im just heart broken Im on duty and didnt get to be with him or even say goodbye for one last time.

I hope I dont ruin everyones day, mine is kinda done already. Sometimes this job sucks with the stuff we hafta miss
