during the early to late 70s Mopar used a 'fusible link' feed wire. It is a large gage red wire that goes to the firewall plug set to the 'bat' terminal on the ignition sw. from the starter relay 'battery' connection. (some vans had the link directly from the pos. post on the battery) You can't tell if it's bad by looking at it, only by checking if you have 12 volts at the firewall plug, and again at the ignition switch 'bat' term. (note, you may read +12v at the ignition sw, but if you turn the sw to 'start' the voltage will drop to zero because the wire is resistive and will not pass enough current) Some were actually marked by a flattened spot and 'fusable link' engraved on it. This is most likely the problem or the plug contacts are burned corroded or melted. In out 70-71 & 72 wreckers, we removed the link and actually drilled out the plug contacts then ran a #10 awg wire from the bat connection at the starter relay (not the start sw. connection) through the firewall plug directly to ignition switch 'bat' terminal. No more failures after that. Good luck
