What gauge do you have? Is it a 6 volt gauge for sure? The gauges changed to 12 volts sometime around the mid-50's for FFPW, but earlier for 2 wheel drive Dodge trucks.

From whom did you buy the new sender? You say the ohm range is 70 to 14 ohms? Did you measure the resistance range on you old sender.

I have a '54 which still has a 6 volt system, but with a two post gas gauge. I will measure the resistance of the sender after I have a chance to take it out of the tank.
