..I just wish these guys could be a little more polite. Every once in a while you get a nice guy & it's refreshing....& I don't mean a guy that's not doing his job...just doing it with manners & kindness.
The last one I can remember was I had to go inside for the standard hassle because I had a pile of old truck parts in the bed of my truck. We had our dog in the truck & he says, "you'll need to take your dog out of the truck & put him in the cage over there." This makes wifey upset because our dog had severe separation anxiety, being a rescue dog. We take him out of the car & we're headed for the dog cage & one of the guys sees my wife is upset & says, "hey, don't worry, you don't need to put him in there...I'll look after him until you come out."
We came out 1/2hr later & there the guy is sitting with the dog! Sheesh!
I've gone through since & had that guy again...he's always thorough...even checks under my trailer but he's very polite & he just has better social skills than most of the other officers I've encountered.
All I ask is to be treated with respect. Ask me whatever you want & search whatever you want but please don't be rude or disrespectful.
That said, I always go through Customs expecting the rude treatment & usually they don't disappoint!
