Ned,
The frame number will let you know the year. The image above is of the passenger side of the frame by the front axle front spring shackle. I have checked a few 1961-68 W300s and all of them had the number within a few inches of this one. It may be below the hole on some trucks.
You will need to clean the frame with a wire wheel in a drill to find the number. Sometimes they are rusted away, but they are often still there.
