If you stay in PDX any length of time the drive through the Gorge is always good. Multnomah Falls is a big attraction and if you are up to it can climb to the top. Besides the air museum in Hood River there is also the RR you can take a little jaunt on if you wanted.

If you head towards the coast Astoria has the Astor column you can climb and see out to the mouth of the Columbia river and around town. Going out to Warrenton and Ft. Stevens you can see Battery Russell and even drive on the beach if you find a good access you won't get stuck on. The one at Ft. Stevens always seems tough but there are some good ones to the South. It has been a few years since I have been there but they are marked on 101 and you can take a look before you try it. =)

Next town to the South is Seaside which has Lewis and Clark history. Check out the turnaround. You can walk out on the beach there too.

You can go West on Highway 26 and see Camp 18. It's a logging museum and has a very interesting restaurant also. If you run onto Gordon Smith (owner) be aware if you get him started talking. =) Say hi although I am not positive he knows me by name although one of my sons worked at the restaurant and I knew one of his sons as we fished around each for a few years. I used to live in the area and I saw Gordon this summer when I took my Bud for a visit.

To make a day of it you can go down the Nehalem river to Tillamook and check out the Tillamook cheese factory. There would also be some fishing available in the Tillamook area.If you were to go down the Neahlem be sure and stop @ the mnouth of the Salmonberry river. The bridge is the one washed out in the '07 Axe Men show when they get there and say oh **** the bridge is gone!
