I just had to replace mine this weekend. Here is how I diagnosed the problem. Check battery voltage. Checked to make sure the hot feed to solenoid was hot. Checked to make sure the feed from ignition was hot when switch was turned to start. Finally, jumped the solenoid poles with a pair of pliers. Starter engaged, so I knew that it had to be solenoid.
