I'm Roland from switzerland, and a lucky new owner of a Dodge WC 52. Year of built, maybe 1944, i am not shure. The nameplate show this year.
I live near Lucerne with my family and my dog and own an other Dodge vehicle, a Dodge Dart 270 with slant six engine.
The Dodge WC 52 was, after the service in the US Army, bought from the Swiss Army and was used there as a hard working, mountain climbing muli.
In the year 1963 it was sold to the fire guard of the little village where i live. It became a red paint dress and blue rotating light with siren.
It was used as a hose lay vehicle with a capacity of 900 metres hose with 100mm dia. Also, it pulled a fire highpressure pump with porsche industrial engine.
In the fireguard service, it was always a reliable partner and served true all the 50 years till now.
On a serious fire case last autumn, in a sightseeing reataurant on the top of a mountain, the bearings of the crankshaft broke. meanwhile, the Dodge have an age of 70 years. So we left the WC in his garage and we ordered a new IVECO vehicle.
I was in this fireguard for 25 years and was responsible for the maintenance on all firetrucks and there equipments.
This was the reason, why the parish council made the offer to leave the Dodge to my care, for preserve.
This fact honors me and i will do all my best to pay attention to this fine machine in future."
