We are converting crops to fuel when a lot of the world is suffering a shortage of food. And, given the amount of petroleum that it takes to grow crops to convert to ethanol, it doesn't make sense.
We have an over abundance of natural gas and we will eventually become energy self-sufficient, we won't need ethanol. It's just a way to subsidize big agri-business.
We can be the Saudi Arabia of food and stick it to China if we want. But, not by converting food to fuel. And, not by selling agri-businesses to the Chinese so they can control the cost of food.
