IIRC, California rules are "commercial vehicles with 3 axles or air brakes". Motorhomes exempt, And weigh stations have signs saying "no pickups".

Dan H probably knows better than me, he's a truck mechanic.

Always iffy on Hollister. I think I'd have to rent a trailer, and my F250 has a slight head gasket leak, iffy on those looong tall grades. .... if only I knew somebody with a Cummins rig going my way.... and back. Sure would make a neat pic, "The Long and the Short of it"
