GOOD NEWS......Airtex is remaking these water pumps....YES these are BRAND NEW units....with a better flow design impeller and water outlet....This pump is the internal by-pass type (1951 and up engines) but will work on all engines from 1938-60 as the top water outlet is made to accept the external by-pass elbow......This pump is fully tested....with a LIFETIME warranty!!!! It comes with all the necessary gaskets....It is available at any NAPA store under part number 55-713 and cost $60.00 with NO CORE exchange....so you can keep your old pump....I cannot tell you how many rebuilt pumps I have got with the backing plate, even though sandblasted, was so pitted I had to apply a thick layer of PERMATEX to seal it to the block, but not with this pump as the backing plate is also BRAND NEW!!!! REMEMBER this is a BRAND NEW pump with a LIFETIME guarantee...NO Shipping and handling charges as you can pick it up at the store....can others offer that on their REBUILT pumps which may have been sitting on the shelf for 25 years!!!!
My NAPA informed me that they started making these again in 1999 and will run the production to 2003...so go out and buy a spare and put it on your shelf.
