I am currently in the process of replacing all my brake lines on a 66 W200 crewcab. I can get the lines at my local NAPA store and also the front and rear hoses to the axles. What I am not finding and am unsure of is the hoses that are off of the master cylinder. I have about a 3" section of brake line coming off the master cylinder, then about a 5" section of brake hose, then another section of steel line going down to the junction box on the frame (two hoses, one for front one for rear). The line is stock I am sure. It all looks factory. I am assuming that the hose is for the movement/flex between the cab and the frame. It will be little movement but I assume the constant movement can weaken a steel line. Does anyone know if this is the purpose of the hose? I will try and see if NAPA has a generic hose of this size. Has anyone eliminated these hoses and just run steel lines all the way from the master cylinder to the frame? Are these hoses stock? Thanks for any feedback.
