The factory recommended way is with an external oil tank, like used for a main bearing leakdown test. Matt Joseph in his "Standard Guide for Auto Restoration" shows a home made from an old fire extinguisher. Basically you have a tap and valve at the bottom of the extinguisher and this is screwed into one of the plugs in the oil gallery on the drivers side. Add a quart or 2 of oil to the fire extinguisher. On the one I built I added a pressure regulator on the top of the unit set for 15-20 pds pressure. Hook up to your air supply (20 pds max pressure) and open the valve on the oil line to the engine. This will fill all the galleys and pre lub the bearing. After you see the pressure go up on the dash gauge you can safely spin the engine with out the sparksplugs in. Shut of the oil valve form the fire extinguisher and the pump and oil system will be fully primed. This is a really important step as the assemble lube on the mains and rods will be gone after a few turns of the crank, and the bearing will be running dry with out pre pressurizing the systems.

Hope it helps!
