water pump/heater ???

I just had to replace my water pump, the old one had 1 plug on the top and 1 plug on the side under the lower radiator hose, I'm guessing these were for the heater I'm going to put in some day, The new pump has only the 1 plug on the top of the water pump....where would the other heater hose hook up ??
