Having the right manual is always a good start. Kinda wish that I had had something more than the parts diagram from the parts book when I rebuilt my winch the winter before last. For tips, unless you have access to a hydraulic press, let someone who does do the work for you. I was able to get mine all apart with just a few hand tools, including a hammer and brass drift, but to reassemble you will need a press to get the drum gear (the big brass gear) back on the drum shaft. Plus if you change the bushings (one on each end of the drum shaft), if I remember right, these needed to be pressed in also. As you reassemble it, make sure that the piece that goes on the end of the drum shaft across from the gear box end, the mounting surfaces match the mounting surfaces on the gear box end. Don't want to get it together and find out that it wont mount up because the piece on the end is upside down. Good Luck, Robert
