Personally I've never had my oilbath air filter leak as some say theirs have.I suspect overfilling.
I have always used a light wt. oil, something under 30w, 10-20w oil,I thought that was what the specs called for.
As for being restrictive,an oilbath air filter using 10-20w oil is less restrictive than a bong-pipe,thats right,a bong-pipe, water-pipe, hooka-pipe,whatever you call them.
The L-head is a relatively low RPM engine and really doesn't need a racing type filter. The oilbath type was and is satisfactory for a working PW but, there is nothing wrong with switching to a paper or foam air-filter. I once saw a farm tractor that run both, having the air first filtered by oil then through paper increasing the life of the paper filter.
