Lou Moore in KS city had a WC 52 that someone had done just that to. Tied one end off and pulled something heavy somehow. The frame is sort of bowed on both sides inward. Id rather put the front bumper against the tree, almost centered as a brake, then pull it. That way the truck doesn't strain, only the front bumper and winch mounts. Two close together trees would be even better and distribute the load a little more. Worse case, run the chain under the truck from the tree to the front frame area to hold on near the winch Vs stressing the poor old girls frame. Add a small section of chain the tor rear pintle only to keep her aligned while pulling, and not squirling sidways somehow.

DON'T cheat on your shear pin though!
