They are a nice truck. The automatic transmission is an 8-speed. I friend just rebuilt his automatic. He has an M37 as well and says the brakes were cheaper to do on his M211 cargo truck. In fact, it's for sale for $2500 and if I had not bought some spare M37's I would have bought it instead. The old timing thing. The reason many Dueces are cheaper than M37's is that the M37 is probably the largest PRACTICAL military to own because it can be garaged. The M211 is going to sit outside your house or in a barn and it takes more than a cherry picker to do any work on it.

If I recall right, the XM221 is the tractor version, so it has a fifth wheel, correct? Not real practical for anything but trailers unless you can find a bed for it.
