If it's nearly free and nearly runs, take it. The fact that the "new" deuces are coming out of the service cheap these days just means you'll be able to get common parts like tires and bows cheap for a while too. I expect a lot of other items are interchangeable as well. I have an M35 with a bomb hoist and it's right up there with the acetylene torch and angle grinder as far as being one of those tools that turned out to be way handier than I ever thought. It's easy to work on and hard to break. Yes it can be a money pit if you want to "restore" it, but if a few days work will make it into a useable work truck, you can't go wrong. All the stuff that was a major project to move with a pickup gets easy with a deuce. The only problem is the deck is awful high when you have to hoist stuff up there by yourself.
