wiper motor question

I bought a 12 volt American Bosch wiper motor on ebay. I have had it in my truck for several weeks and used it several times. Yesterday while sitting at a stop light, in pouring rain, I noticed the windshield wasn't getting rain on it and the wiper was passing over dry glass. The motor started to sound a little different, laboring a bit. Then it just stopped. I thought it had blown a fuse. When I got home I pulled the switch out again and the motor started working. I can't believe this thing has any overload protection built into it, but what other solution might it be? Thanks.
