Steer clear of shops that do mass powder coating jobs...filing cabinets, widgets, etc.
You want an automotive powder coater spraying a hybrid polyester powder. Like one would think they want the epoxy powder...right? wrong...epoxy powder is indoor use powder.
A good powder is called Super Polyester & it's a polyester hybrid that's highly chip & scratch resistant. If powder coating is applied properly, not only is it nearly impossible to chip...water will not get under the coating when it does...in fact the biggest issue with it is it's almost impossible to get off if you want it off.
I've never tried this place but I read in HotRod magazine that Cooter's in Grand Blanc MI does good work.
Might be worth a try if you ever have anything you want fancy.
