That's an unusual cartridge and I always associate it with a guy from Appalachia I met when I was cutting wood up on Mt Pilchuck almost 30 years ago. I was cutting wood just short of the end of the road, and there was a guy up by the slash pile shooting. I figured I'd best go up and talk to him so he'd know where I was, and to see if he seemed okay. We had a bit of a conversation, and I continued cutting wood, but I never was really sure he was okay. He said he'd come all the way across the country to get a job at Boeing but once he got here, there wasn't any job. He had a .25-20 that he said he'd just "bought off a drunk for $20". He told me many times over that he could "hit a man-sized target at 500 yards" and that there were "satan-worshiping hippies" living up the Pilchuck river who did something awful with babies and/or children and if he ever caught them he'd shoot them. About 10 years later, two women were shot dead while hiking about a mile from that spot, on the more accessible side of the mountain. There were no clues and the murderer was never found. Too much time had gone by for there to have possibly been any connection, and I couldn't remember any identifying details of the .25-20 guy.
