I found that the one remaining cylinder I had not replaced yet also had steel pistons.

I went through all of my old receipts. The only time I have ever purchased four brake cylinders at one time was in 1983. I believe these were the three I still have that have the steel pistons, and the remaining forth one got replaced in 1988 (according to the receipts) - probably with an aluminum piston cylinder with the steel one being thrown away. Whenever I have had to replace a cylinder on that truck, it has always been that same wheel - most recently last fall. At that time, again I found really bad corrosion. Now, the remaining three cylinders have come off as they were all weeping. All had steel pistons in relatively good condition. I guess 30 years on three cylinders is not bad.

I did find some markings on the cylinders, but I am not sure who the manufacturer was. They only say "U.S.A." and "3738". There are some casting marks, but no manufacturer and no markings as far as left or right.

The dust covers all have the following: ADM, Made in U.S.A., 4842, and 3599. Not sure this means anything as some of my old Wagners also had the same dust covers.

So, I may never know who made the steel piston cylinders, but they have probably been unavailable for a long time.
