One other question. Are you running gas with Ethanol additive (up to 20%) or are you running E85 - 85% Ethanol and 15% gas? There is a big difference.

Ethanol will hold water which can cause rust inside the pump, tank and lines. I have seen some of this and it did cause a pump failure in my case but the failure was due to rust flakes clogging up the check valves in the pump. Cleaning out the valves solved the problem. Did you try the mechanical pump on it's own after the electric pump got you home? If not go back and check. If foreign matter hung up a check valve the electric pump may have flushed it out and your mechanical pump could be okay again.

The Then and Now kit does advertise that it is compatible with modern fuels but I don't know if that includes E85. Ask them about it if E85 is what you are running.
