Many of us have been through the same thought process. Eventually, we just decide it's better to get new clinders.
If you have a vehicle that has hard to get wheel cylinders, then it may be worth trying to do something with the old ones.
One leaking wheel cylinder will make you decide that what ever you were attempting to do is not worth the trouble.
It's real nice just to slap a new wheel cylinder on and be done with it. Change the fluid every couple years and you will probably never have to deal with them again. And, If you do, you'll just have to replace the cups.
