My youngest son was having a little cash flow problem and rather than letting me loan him the money he sold his '03 Dodge/Cummins, which I bought new and sold to him in late '05 when I bought my '06. I hated to see him do this, because he knew the history of the truck from day one. But part of what goes along with being self-employed is the absence of benefits when you are not working. It's been 5 years since we built a house. Only small jobs over those years. I had to do the same thing myself when things were rough back in the '70s, so I know it isn't the end of the world. I guess a dad just always hopes his kids will not have to go through some of the things he had to go through. But I admire his willingness to step up and do what he thought was right, and not continue to get deeper in trouble and have worse problems.
